The go-go boot

The go-go boot broke with the idea that an elegant women’s boot had to be dark and traditional. White or brightly coloured leather, patent and vinyl designs accompanied miniskirts, geometric dresses and the optimism of the Space Age.

A low block heel made walking and dancing easier than in a delicate pump. The simple shape looked young and modern. Designs by André Courrèges and others gave the boot a futuristic presence that remains instantly recognisable.
